About Zehava Gros Schwartzblatt, M.A.

As a therapist, I utilize a patient-centered approach grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a nonjudgmental stance. I believe that each individual brings a unique set of experiences, strengths, and challenges to therapy, and I am committed to tailoring treatment to meet your specific needs. Central to my work is the therapeutic relationship itself, which I view as the foundation for meaningful change. I strive to cultivate a safe and genuine connection, allowing you to feel truly seen and understood as we work together toward greater self-awareness and lasting growth.

My Approach:

While my training is integrative, combining psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches, I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective. This means I’m interested in the patterns that show up in your life and relationships, often outside of conscious awareness, and how they might be holding you back or causing pain. At the same time, I draw on practical skill-building tools when they’re useful, always keeping your needs at the center. My areas of expertise include working with individuals facing depression, anxiety, relationship and intimacy concerns, trauma-related issues, grief and loss, perinatal challenges, serious mental illness, and women’s health issues. I bring warmth and openness to my work, and I strive to create a safe, collaborative environment where we can make sense of your experiences together. My hope is to help you deepen your self-understanding, feel more connected to yourself and others, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

My Professional Background:

I am completing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Long Island University, Post Campus, where I also earned my M.S. in Clinical Psychology. I completed my undergraduate studies at Queens College, majoring in Psychology and Political Science. I specialize in both short-term and long-term psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups, as well as in consultation and psychological assessment. My clinical experience has included both inpatient and outpatient settings, including Nassau University Medical Center, Northport VA Medical Center, The Center for Healthy Living, and the Psychological Services Center at Long Island University. My dissertation focuses on the experiences of women with vaginismus, exploring the intersection of religiosity and female sexual disorders.
